Using tools isn’t what makes us unique as a species; plenty of other animals do that. But we are the only one that tells stories. This matters. Stories are how we begin to understand ourselves. They’re journeys to meet people and see places we’d never experience in “real” life. And, I think they are where empathy begins. No surprise, then, I think stories matter.
